Manda-peta is a town and a municipality in East Godavari district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
Mandapeta was originally called Mandavyapuram, and it got that name because of Sage Mandukya who is supposed to have stayed at this place for sometime. Sage Narada is supposed to have done "Prathisthapana" of the idol in "Janardhana Swamy Temple" popularly known as "Radham Gudi" today. Mandapeta is a regional commercial hub and trade center. Its famous in the surrounding villages and towns for its skilled goldsmiths. Most of the population is employed in Agriculture or related industries, but there is a sizeable population engaged in Trade and Small scale industries. Its has 8 movie theaters with almost all the popular movies released, and attracts huge crowds from near by villages and towns.
Today this city contain more than 80 rice factories but there is no educational development.At present only four degree colleges exist. There are only 2 MBBS(pediatric) doctors available in Mandapeta(other doctors are also present). There is no scope for higher studies. Most of the people go out of Mandapeta for higher studies. Only one hotel,CK Grand is present in Mandapeta though there are a number of lodges.
